Parts of Florida saw severe storms Monday, with gusty winds, heavy rain and golf-ball size hail that downed trees, broke windows, and damaged cars. Photos posted online showed the damage in parts of Highlands County, which was under severe thunderstorm warnings Monday. Parts of Miami-Dade County on Sunday also saw hail, a hazard that can come with thunderstorms.
Can you imagine chilling at home when suddenly, bam! hail breaks through your window? That’s not usually a Florida problem, but it became one for some homeowners in Avon Park. Not only did hail crash through the windows of some homes, but the ice also left holes in the exterior.
Some of the hail reported around Sebring was said to be the size of golf balls and baseballs, according to Fox13. Clearly, Mother Nature wasn’t playing around.
